Buyer |
Grower |
| 1 |
|
The grower puts their fruit on the spot market.
To do so the grower must register on VineAccess (this is FREE), and identify the fruit (variety, location and target price) to be offered and give a production forecast. |
| 2 |
Using VineAccess buyers search for fruit that will suit their requirements.
Any internet user can do this for FREE and without needing to register on VineAccess. |
|
| 3 |
When a buyer finds fruit that they are interested in they must register their interest in that fruit by nominating a suggested date and time for a field assessment of the fruit.
VineAccess will automatically send an email to the grower informing them that a buyer is interested in assessing their fruit.
At this point, the buyer must be registered on VineAccess (as a Spot Buyer, Small Winery or Winery) to be a registered Spot Market User.
|
|
| 4 |
|
To accept a potential buyer’s booking for a field assessment (or suggest a more convenient time), the grower must subscribe to VineAccess and register as a Spot Market User.
VineAccess automatically provides to each of the grower and the buyer contact details for the other.
Growers can continue to advertise the fruit on VineAccess to other potential buyers.
What does it cost? |
| 5 |
If the fruit is suitable, the buyer submits an initial bid, with a “hidden” maximum bid. VineAccess automatically
bids on the buyer’s behalf against competing buyers in one dollar rises until either:
• the grower accepts the buyer’s bid (see Step 6); or
• the buyer’s maximum is outbid by another buyer. VineAccess will inform the outbid buyer so that a revised bid can be submitted.
Any number of buyers can submit simultaneous bids for the same fruit. VineAccess efficiently finds the highest bid and keeps the grower and all interested buyers advised (online or by email) at all times.
The Spot Market only accepts bids on a “free on board, at farm gate” basis. This lets the grower compare “apples for apples”. MOG discounts and other contractual terms can be negotiated between the parties either during the bidding process or after a bid has been accepted. |
|
| 6 |
|
The grower can accept the highest bid at any time.
Four things then happen:
• VineAccess advises unsuccessful buyers that the fruit has been sold.
• VineAccess renders an invoice to the grower for the Spot Market commission for the successful introduction.
• The grower and buyer must negotiate the final details of their contract (delivery dates, MOG discounts, freight costs, insurance etc) based on the agreed bid price for the fruit.
• VineAccess automatically updates the buyer’s data to show the purchased fruit as the buyer’s.
